I make one-of-a-kind, wabi-sabi little friends out of the landfill-destined clothes real people wore and loved. Mouths from sleeve cuffs. Tongues from sweatpants. Teeth from tube socks. Ears from sweater hems. Nothing matches, and that’s the point.

Time’s are wack. You want something that feels like it came from a human… or maybe from under your bed. Not another 3D printed dragon. Something one a kind, just like you, snookums.

You deserve a little treat that feels good and does good, taking landfill destined clothing and turning it into cherished, lovable art. That’s Thriftkins! Handmade slowly and intentionally, right here in my Columbus, Ohio studio.

thriftkins: imperfect friends for imperfect days

what we’re made of

I work with an end of life clothing company that provides literal bales of landfill destined clothing to me once a year, and from there I make do with what the closet-gods have provided me. Kinda. Some textiles are donated to me, or thrifted around Columbus, Ohio.

Regardless, every single piece is deep-cleaned twice. Cleaning week at my house is a huge ordeal, and involves an industrial sized 5-gallon container of laundry soap. Me and my mom watching golden girls, washing, folding, sorting and complaining about our wrists hurting for 5-7 days. It’s a hoot!

All of that just so your Thriftkins are cuddle-ready once these upcycled materials are turned into your new best friend. Stuffed with brand new luxurious soft stuffing (the kind you can’t just get in-stores, it’s so squishy!), plus clean shredded fabric scraps for weight when noted, NEVER plastic beads… that would kinda defeat the point lol.
